Reproductive Freedom
“Reproductive freedom” refers to the freedom of individuals to control decisions regarding contraception, abortion, sterilization, and childbirth. In 1973, the Roe v. Wade case guaranteed women a qualified right to terminate a pregnancy. This right was overruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which the Court held that the constitution does not confer a right to abortion, and gives individual states the full power to regulate any aspect of abortion not protected by federal law.
